Good Girls Always Finish Last
“I’m too nice”…sounds good, right? Wrong. And up until very recently, I never thought this could be a big problem for a single girl, and honestly thought it was mainly a guy problem…. like when guys end up in the “friend zone.” But it’s a little different for a woman when they are too nice.
There is this thing called “nice girl syndrome” (it is the effort to appear non-confrontational and pleasant, so as to appear acceptable)…. and the best way I can describe this moment of realization is like a camera lens staring right back at you, waiting to take your photo to capture the point of realization, the whole time.
A good friend of mine and I were out for coffee recently and he said “you know…you are just too nice. Stop being friends with all of your exes and letting people in that aren’t doing anything to benefit you. I mean, what’s the point?” And he is dead on…always has been.
Sometimes just one snapshot of yourself in a somewhat vulnerable state can bring out a “truth” about yourself that maybe you never really realized can use some tweaking.
Great revelation and oh so true. I’ve had a friend or two tell me the same type of thing.
