Welcome to Fashion Friday at The Elegant Tart! This sheer foundation wear earns a strong 7 out of 8 slices on the Tart Scale. (3 out of 4 for elegance, and 4 out of 4 for sexiness.)
Unlike true foundation wear, I doubt this has the elastic compression to re-engineer a body so that bulges are minimized. Still it’s a very clean, simple and ultimately, very sophisticated look. I love it! The fact that sheer fabric is used keeps the sexiness at maximum.

Another interesting review from The Elegant Tart. (I’ve said it before, if you haven’t checked out Fashion Fridays over at his Tumblr, you’re missing out. Be warned, though, the other days are much less tame.)
Anyway, I was surprised at the 7 out of 8 rating here. But I think he and I see sheer lingerie of this sort differently. I like the briefs. They are an elegant take on shapewear (although I also question how much shaping they are actually capable of.)
But the bra.
When I was younger (much younger) I bought myself a sheer bra like this. One of the first somewhat racy things I bought for myself because, well, sheer is somewhat naughty and does the opposite of one of the jobs of underthings. So I bought it, brought it home, went up to my room and put it on. And I guess seeing it on me in the more relaxed environment rather than a cramped store change room put it in a different light. I looked in the mirror and looked down at myself… and was suddenly struck with just how unsexy nipples look all weirdly squished up inside a bra when you can actually see through the fabric. I had no idea what was going on inside my bras, how it looked. Maybe it’s different if you possess cute little nipples like the woman pictured here, but on me… I was not sold. It certainly didn’t make me feel like the vivacious sex goddess in sheer that I was hoping for. And I think has partly coloured my view of sheer bras to this day. I do have bras that have sheer components, but not quite like this seamless style.
I am not sure if this was so much a review of the garments or reviewing my own personal hang-ups. Feel free to discuss in the comments. :)
